Today, Hasbro announced its newest Ghostbusters Haslab project: a full 1:1 scale replica of the iconic Ghost Trap and PKE. This announcement was made during the latest video livestream on Hasbro Pulse's YouTube channel this morning. The Ghostbuster Reveal begins at 1:11:00.
The Ghost Trap is a 1:1 replica, featuring metal switches, LED lights, sounds, a removable trap function, volume control, vibration options, functional dials and knobs, swappable sidebars that unlock different sound options, and a functional pedal.
The PKE meter will have LED lights and sounds, as well as the "tazer" mode seen in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. While the PKE meter looks good, it appears bulkier than the on-screen prop used, but this is a prototype, so I won't judge it too harshly.
Haslab, of course, has multiple stretch goals, all of which look incredibly impressive. These include a set of ESP cards as seen in Ghostbusters 1984, a holster for both the PKE and Ghost Trap, a No Ghost Haslab patch, a Mini Stay Puft patch, and a '84 No Ghost patch.
The other Ghostbusters Haslab project was 'Spengler's Proton Pack,' which received 19,062 backers, a remarkable achievement considering the $399.99 price point. The most successful Haslab project, with 30,811 backers, was Marvel Legends Galactus, also priced at $399.99. While over 19k backers is no small feat, Hasbro aims to attract hundreds of thousands or even millions of customers, so 19k isn’t really a bank breaking number, and it’s clear that these protects are more about fan service than turning out a huge profit. Still, the fan love is greatly appreciated. Let's hope this newest Ghostbusters Haslab project will make a splash, in a spiritual sense, of course.
The Ghost Trap and PKE come bundled at a cost of $299.99 USD and requires 10,000 pre-orders by December 11, 2023, to bring this Haslab project to life. So, what are you waiting for? Visit Hasbro Pulse's website here to pre-order! "Bustin' Makes Me Feel Good!
