boarder2

Werd Beta has been updated with the following changes:

  • Moved the tagging button closer to the tag display (Need feedback, is this a good place for it?)
  • Made an attempt to fix focus issues with hotkeys firing when they shouldn't

New tag button

Everyone can get Werd for any Windows 10 device here

If you want to be added to the beta channel, let me know by sending me a SM with the email address you use as your MSA on the Windows Store.

Just had it happen just now when I was testing a reply to feek below. I decided to hit "a" first and it jumped to another post, closing the reply box.

Oooh that would be awesome if it’s fixed. Plagued me for a long time

Can you enable Dev Tools and if it happens again grab the debug log? I don't know if I have enough logging in there to accurately capture what's causing it but maybe it'll help. I don't think I've ever had this happen to me so it's hard to track it down.

Ok, that may be helpful. Had you just restarted the app before you started typing the reply?

I did, yeah. That's the best way to replicate it in my experience. I think it's generally (perhaps always?) happening when typing the first reply since opening the app.

Ok, there's definitely a problem again with resetting the data context or something after selecting a post for the first time. I haven't dug into that again yet so I'll put it on the list.

At first glance, the tagging icon seems out of place in it's new spot.

I was thinking...what about pushing the timestamps far right, then using the spot where the timestamp used to occupy as the new tagging location? Quick mockup:

Hmm, I don't immediately hate it but I feel like there was a reason I didn't do this to begin with.

I definitely don't like the position of the button where it is though, something's gotta give

That's probably never going to change. I have to keep the count of items visible at any given time down and once the inline chatty comes into play that's a *lot* more UI elements at any given time

The other reason I won't do it is because clicking an existing tag is the way you can tell which users tagged something and I can't really think of any other good way to do that.

Which is funny because that's where it was before the redesign that put usernames on the left.

First time you opened the app? Did you click the reply button with the mouse or use a hot key?

            December 8, 2020 12:35 PM

Yeah, ok. I think I have a way to repro it. The first time you open the app and click with the mouse to reply it will happen. It's surely the data context problem I mentioned earlier. I'll try to track it down soon!

Mouse click on the reply button. App has been running since the update. I don't use the hot keys.

I use LatestChatty and I don't have that issue. Maybe delete+reinstall?

latest chatty is still the thing to use for now. bouilloncubes was working on a new client but it's not ready.

try uninstalling and reinstalling latest chatty, it has a issue where the cache can become gigantic and exhibit behavior like you're seeing.

delete the app and reinstall it. i know that sounds like general purpose bullshit advice but this is specifically a known lc.app issue and this is the known fix
