My green tea was delivered

Time for Japanese lime

SerfaSam

There's nothing I love more than getting to the end of a long day and having a Japanese lime green tea. I usually make the purchase in-store, but I didn't really want to go out and about so I had it delivered. I needed a new infuser, too, so I snapped one up.

The bag smells so good. I tend to transfer it to a tin container to keep it fresh and to avoid handling the bag too much, which tends to deteriorate over time.

As for how I have it, one tea spoon in the infuser and let it steep for a few minutes. No milk or sugar, because that would be incorrect.

That's my recipe for making my tea! Any fellow tea drinkers out there in the wild yonder?

Oh, jasmine tea is always lovely. And yeah, I suppose this one is a bit fancy!

Jasmine tea is great. I love all the floral teas made in that style.

I’ve got one now made with Lilly of the Valley and I just finished a tin of KusmiTea Bouquet of Flowers, that’s made with ylang ylang blossoms and bergamot. In the spring, I get green tea with cherry blossoms.

I need milk and sugar in my tea. Otherwise it's just flavoured water

You are buying the wrong tea. There are some types of tea that have a full body and don’t feel thin in the mouth. Try a smoked tea like lapsang souchong or Japanese hojicha, which is roasted. It will feel robust.

After visiting the UK for the first time, I went through a milk and tea phase. I still enjoy it from time to time.

Different teas have different needs. I can appreciate some people needing milk in some, sugar in others, but there are a lot that don't need milk - such as this one!

It is an incredibly aromatic blend that I look forward to drinking every evening! My other favorite is Russian Caravan, an incredibly smokey tea.

I am a mighty tea lover! I’ve posted a lot of tea posts here. This is what I’ve really been enjoying lately:

This is a remarkable Russian tchai. The bay leaf just adds so much extra.

I can't stand green tea. It's just so bitter compared to other teas.

Standard green tea is certainly bitter, but this one is more citrusy thanks to the peels and lemongrass.

Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup. Strong bitterness with green is almost always a sign of too high a temp or too long a steep.

A first steep should be at 80C and last about 30 seconds. Time can creep up with repeated steeps, but I don't generally fiddle with temperature.

I said the same until i had quality green tea.

Mess with your temp and steep time, and also add some mint, and sugar or sweetener of your choice.

Higher quality tea can do wonders if you aren't willing to add anything, but I won't drink green tea without at least mint at all.

      What temperature for the water?

I'm a barbarian and just boil the water and let it sit. However, the bag does recommend 70-85c / 158-185f. I may start fiddling with my kettle and pick a temperature that it's actually supposed to sit at.

I haven't had lime, but I really like Japanese apple green tea.

If I recall, I still have an unopened pouch in my fancy tea drawer. I should dig that out.
