The second content drop for Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is upon us! This next round of DLC will feature a plethora of updates including a new map dubbed “The Courthouse”, a brand new Ghost type called “Possessor” with 3 different variants, two new minions types, Extreme Ghostbusters cosmetics, gear shells, and, of course, quality of life and balance changes on 4/20 at 11am PT!
We’ve already gotten confirmation of the Extreme Ghostbusters cosmetics and new map. However, the big takeaway from the update is the new “Drudge” minion that spawns if the ghost detonates a rift. While very little information is given to what the new minion type “Drudge” does, I can only speculate that it’s an attempt to make matches go longer. Pro Ghost players can end a game in two minutes if they destroy their rifts fast enough. This may be a way to have games last longer and be more strategic.
The new ghost type “Possessor” seems to be a trap-focused ghost based on the spectral Terror Dog in the film ‘Ghostbusters Afterlife’. Their ability to lay ground traps and lure Busters in for an ambush seems fun and makes this ghost type stand out from the rest. It also appears you can lay down up to 3 traps at a time. Pretty terrifying.
Of course, balance and QOL updates have been added and tweaked, but we have no info on what exactly is being changed, yet. Safe to say on April 20, 2023, IllFonic’s Jordan Mathewson will hopefully provide detailed balance notes at release. All this is also 100% free if you own the base game!
