Oh, boy. It’s starting. Destiny 2 raid preparation begins. Anyone who doesn’t play Destiny 2 might be thinking, “Hold up, the raid isn’t out for 25 days, what could you possibly do?” And to that I say: Bounties. So. Many. Bounties. I want to have my Warlock packed to the gills with bounties. I want so many bounties in his pockets that he can get deep into the artifact mod list. Better yet, I would love an additional character with a pocket full of bounties. So, let’s talk about that.
In Destiny 2, each season will offer a new artifact with some 25 mods spread across 5 columns. Unlocking each column requires earning XP. One way to earn XP is to complete bounties. The good news is that bounties can be carried between seasons, essentially giving players a little savings account of XP to dump into their character.
What saving bounties does is ensure you have several thousand experience points at the start of the season so you can hit the ground running. While the new raid has its power locked, we’re not here for the additional power gains the artifact offers, just the mods. Classy Restoration from Season of the Haunted proved invaluable in endgame content, so who knows what Season 18 will offer.
Beyond getting meta weapons and tweaking loadouts ahead of Arc 3.0’s release, bounty hoarding is the only way players can prepare for a day one raid. Now, I’ve already started all of this process. I’m considering some Warmind Cell builds with my IKELOS SMG. However, there’s every chance I’ll be staying with Well of Radiance and Divinity for the boss damage.
For those that are visual learners, Aztecross has a fantastic video that has been beautifully edited to showcase how this bounty hoarding system works.
Any player that is preparing to do the same should keep a couple things in mind:
- Use Blinding Light +12% mod on your Ghost
- Complete Seasonal Challenges ASAP
- Claim XP when Fireteam members are in your party and in an activity (or the Tower)
With all of these things rattling around my mind, I’m hoping to be in a good position to be raid ready. The only question that remains: will it be King’s Fall or Wrath of the Machine?
