[ ray tracing ] The Riftbreaker teamed up with DX12 Ultimate + a RX 6800 = fresh

Ray tracing is on the tip of everyone’s thumbs these days and in this 1st video of real time ray tracing in the WIP tile The Riftbreaker is no exception. Once you see this amazing video of the RX 6800 in action churning out RDNA 2's & DX12U real time ray tracing is going to make you want every ARPG and strategy game from here on out to get pimped with this tech. I just had Xzibit on the line and He said he's got a back log of video game tittles to be pimped out and He is juiced out of His mind!!!! Well with out further ado let's all get juiced and see these ray tracing effects in action in this dope WIP title called The Riftbreaker. StarCraft II fans and Strategy fans you might want to check this out too:

The following video is a AMD RX 6800 show case of what real time ray tracing looks like in an isometric game, all I can say as a MEGA ARPG fan is I need these effects in every ARPG and Strategy game going forward. I can still remember that Diablo 4 video that Shack did with the team and they sort of snubbed ray tracing off as a gimmick or something they would not consider https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kh5RZtdiOk . Clearly looking at The Riftbreaker video linked in this article the Diablo 4 team should reconsider their opinion and I pray they have already added this tech to their game engine.

Right let's begin and get high on some fresh real time ray tracing effects in this rad WIP title called The Riftbreaker:

* FYI - the ray tracing starts @ 1:52 *

Pretty insane effects hey, that comet passing over was truly an insane effect and these are easily the most insane real time shadows I have ever seen in a ISO game. Like I said just visualizing these effects in an ARPG like Diablo 4, POE2, etc or if they where juice up Torchlight 3, Last Epoch, Wolcen, Grimdawn, Warhammer: Chaosbane, etc, etc would also just blow our minds!!!!

Here are some sexy GIF's that show off more of the real time ray tracing effects and even an [ ON ] and [ OFF ] comparison:

Ray tracing [ OFF ]

Ray tracing [ ON ] * OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! *

Here are a bunch of screen shots of the ray tracing to show the impact the new shadows have on a game and it is quiet striking and a massive difference. Now just imagine if this also had ray traced reflections, ambient occlusion and lighting... dare to dream... but soon it will be reality!

* Note - these where snapped from YouTube so the quality is not so good FYI *

Those interested The Riftbreaker is an awesome blend of ARPG, Strategy, Base building and a few other tid bits so basically if you enjoy ARPGs and also games like StarCraft II this will be sure to be your jam! Here are some links to the Steam and GOG pages plus it has a free demo on the PC platform:

Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/780310/The_Riftbreaker/

GOG: https://www.gog.com/game/the_riftbreaker

The Riftbreaker will also be making an appearance on Last Gen and Next Gen consoles, so that includes the XB1, PS4, XBSX/S, PS5 and of course like I said the PC. Here are a few direct capture screens of the game on the PC to help build the hype if your are still not juiced out of your mind:

Well with AMD's RX 6000s coming out in two days the cycle will be complete and ray tracing will be propagated among all the video gaming channels. Since both GPU teams will have a state of the art ray tracing offering as well as RDNA 2 packed into every Next Gen console ray tracing has officially hit the masses and is the future and is here to stay. The only issue now is availability of the new hardware and of course getting more developers and projects to leverage this amazing technology. Bottom line in two days the ground work for ray tracing to take off like a MAD Lad has finally come and what is in store for the future is going to be pretty freaking incredible!

Feels good Man \m/ :) \m/ , enjoy the rest of your day!

Cool, yeah I think with ray tracing and especially in some cases(or maybe in most now) when you have a real nice looking game with solid graphics and solid conventional effects it is real important to show exactly what these next Gen techniques bring to the table.

On the flip side I also think it helps expose those that don't use the effects and tech right / properly like in the case with World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. In Shadowlands the ray tracing they implemented currently is incorrect and 100% useless.

Anyways I am glad you like it for I love comparison screens too :)

These are the first comparisons that have really completely sold me on Ray Tracing.

It's hitting this weird uncanny valley for me where it feels like I'm actually looking into another word.

I know what you mean and that is the beauty of having dynamic effects in your game! This has been one of the biggest issues of last Gen and the past where games where essentially static due to low powered hardware and that makes you not feel a part of the world and forces the game to feel dead.

As you can see from this video the moment you add dynamic effects like real time shadows and lighting your movement and the other game objects create a live experience. Essentially when ever you play it is now different every time since you create the shadows as you move and the enemies etc are all constantly changing the game and it becomes alive. Not having the effects being pre-baked and always the same changes the game and your brain deals with it in a totally different way. Once games also make the game objects none static as well that will further increase the effect and be crazy!

The future of video games is going to be awesome, crazy thing is things are just getting started! LOL and some thought last Gen had hit the peak, in reality it had built a new base that paved the way for some major progress that We see now.

it adds a tremendous amount of believability to a scene. we've gotten really good at faking lighting, but seeing the real-ass thing is immediately recognizable as "better".

I wonder if showing up at Micro Center on launch day at 6 might net me a 6800. I have no idea how to game the process well enough to find one online and I've been holding out for a new AMD GPU since I built my PC back in March. I want those VR gains!

If its anything like the 30 series launch or Zen 3 launch, people are probably lining up at your Microcenter starting today. I got to my Microcenter at 5 am launch day for Zen 3 and was about 30th in line. There was a nice couple keeping an unofficial list at the front, you checked in and it let you return to your car or whatever and come back around 6 am, obviously that doesn't happen everywhere but it was great that everyone was being friendly and cooperative. The store manager showed up around 6:45/7, vouchers handed out around 8, and store opened at 9. There's always a chance of more stock showing up just after opening, but after all vouchers were handed out you were then on a "wait list" for the day (that's how I got my 5800x, the guy in front of me got the last voucher so I was #1 on the waitlist).
