The USFL or United States Football League was a football league in 1983 and was supposed to compete with the NFL. For the three years it was around, it kind of did, getting the likes of Doug Flutie and Herschel Walker out of college. Like most of the leagues that try to compete with the NFL, the USFL had hype at the start and then fell flat. Much like the XFL, the Spring Football League, the second coming of the XFL, and more.
However, if the league sticks around, it looks like the USFL will have New Jersey reprsentation like the old USFL did, The New Jersey Generals are coming back and it's always fun to see New Jersey represented in these leagues. Most of the time, NJ does get a team in these leagues. Arena Football had the Red Dawgs and then the Gladiators. Roller Hockey had the NJ Rockin' Rollers and indoor soccer had the NJ Ironmen. I might have another team to complain about it, even if it is just a USFL team! It would be interesting to see one of these leagues stick around for awhile but they need to perfect timing. The newer XFL could have worked but Covid-19 got in the way. I was checking the USFL draft on twitter the last few days and for some reason I was acting like the Generals didn't get the best player at the pick. I have NO IDEA who any of these guys are, by the way. It must just be the sports fan in me!
