The Witch Queen cometh. We’re rapidly approaching the release of Destiny 2’s next major expansion, following one of the longest seasons in the game’s history thanks to a delay (or two?) which is no doubt attributed to COVID-19. But Savathun’s is almost on our doorstep, and before she arrives, I’m doing my part to prepare my Guardian.
There is a wealth of prep videos out there that have laid out some tips on how best to organize your time before the next expansion. In fact, I included a helpful one in Weekend Discussion. In this video, CoolGuy lays out some of the things he’s doing as the Season of the Lost comes to a close.
As for myself, collecting a full set of Artifice armor has been a goal for a few weeks now. I’m still down a Warlock Bond, but that’s giving me reason to continue farming the dungeon for armor with higher rolls in the areas I care about most. Thankfully, the Ghost mods are coming in handy as they’re boosting the random stats rather effectively.
Beyond armor, there’s the obvious bounty hoarding. Grabbing any bounty with a XP+ icon is ensuring I’ve got a decent collection of XP waiting for me once I claim the seasonal artifact. One thing to keep in mind has been to avoid having 8 of the weekly playlist bounties (Vanguard, Crucible, Gambit) as getting one bounty from the new season ensures you can proc this Pinnacle reward when the time is right.
Then there is the host of Exotic catalysts to consider. I’ve been a bit slack when it comes to leveling them all up, but with Dares of Eternity, I’ve seized the opportunity max out some important ones. Sleeper Simulant, Gjallarhorn, and even Legend of Acrius are now lookin’ mighty juicy and ready for action. Even Trinity Ghoul is now shredding more thanks to its catalyst, and just in time for the Anti-Barrier Bow mod that’s coming with Season of the Risen.
One thing that has been a blindspot in my preparation is Enhancement Cores. These things look to be needed in weapon crafting, and I do not feel comfortable with my current supply. So it’s off time farm those bad boys so I don’t need to do grinding while trying to enjoy the new content.
The time before a new expansion hits is always fun, as we all try to predict what we’re going to need based on previous experience. Then there’s the stress of doing stuff in the “correct order” when the season drops so as to maximise your drops. But how are you going with your Destiny 2: The Witch Queen prep? Are there any weapons or armor you’re focusing on or other preparation strategies you’ve employed?
