Halo Infinite has finally arrived, and what a lovely day it is. The Halo series means a lot to me, and this is a day I’ve been waiting on for a long time. Before I embark on Master Chief’s latest adventure, I want to reflect on the series by sharing my personal rankings of the entries thus far.
7. Halo 5: Guardians
6. Halo: ODST
5. Halo 4
4. Halo: Combat Evolved
3. Halo: Reach
2. Halo 3
1. Halo 2
Halo 2 will probably always be at the top of my list. I’m not sure if anything can ever overtake the love I have for that game and the experiences I had with it. So many nights with friends gaming into the morning hours through System Link. A campaign that I’ve beaten countless times with my step-brother and several friends. It just gives me all the good feelings.
Halo: Reach was the first game in the series that I played at an age where I was old enough to really digest some of its older themes. Taking the story away from Master Chief was a decision I was super nervous about, but I came to love Noble Team. Halo 3 is probably Halo Multiplayer at its best (though Halo Infinite will probably surpass it soon).
As I jump into Halo Infinite, I’m grateful for this series. It strongly shaped who I am and set me on the path that led me to where I am right now, writing a blog-esque post on a video game website that I work for. That’s dope.
Here’s to Halo Infinite!
