I'm a wizard now and I have the staff to prove it

I've been putting together a wizard costume, and no, it's not for Halloween.

I have a couple of friends getting married soon and they approached me a while ago about conducting the wedding. However, they didn't want to go traditional and picked me because I'm a weird and funny dude who is down to put on a ridiculous costume and marry two of my closest friends. With that in mind, I've been slowly putting together a sort of satanic evil wizard outfit. But I've been going balls out with it because I don't want this to look like something a parent put together desperately the night before Halloween.

One of the biggest pieces of flair I knew I had to get right was the staff. Let me just say, living in the time of etsy has made it easier to be a cosplayer/dress-up weirdo than at any other moment in history. I spent some time perusing various storefronts looking for something that would look fantastic and not break the bank.

I gotta say, I'm really impressed that there's someone out there making a living doing something like this. Like, maybe there's a handful of folks out there who have spent their lives travelling with Ren-faires or what have you, but etsy has once again proven itself a boon by amplifying the creator market.

I ended up going with a wizard staff from Ivy's Wands And Whimsies. I gotta say, I'm more than pleased with the craft and detail of this thing. Not only did they do a great job of fabricating it, this bad boy lights up the blue quartz crystal with the flick of a hidden switch! It came packaged nicely in a long tube with the extra padding I had requested since the delivery driver tends to just throw my stuff over my apartment's gate.

One thing I've noticed about Etsy sales folks is they are super appreciative for your business and will include little extras. My wand came with a little thank you note that included a nice story about how wand making had started out as a school project long ago for Amy and blossomed into a business.

I also bought my wizard cloak from some folks in the Ukraine off Etsy, but I don't wanna talk about it too much yet, at least not until after the wedding. But the staff was just too dope not to share. I really wish my friends were getting married before Halloween though as I'd love to take the costume for a spin before the ceremony. Right now I just don't wanna risk it getting messed up though.

It's also a big bonus that I happen to be playing an evil wizard in my D&D campaign right now, so if we ever get to do a session in person, I will look the part. I'll be sure to post pics of the whole ensemble after the wedding goes down.
