Blood orange gin sour
I don't know names for cocktails, but this is a variation of a gin sour that is a tidge sweeter and fruitier.
- 2 oz dry gin
- 1 oz lemon juice
- 0.5 oz blood orange juice
- 0.5 oz simple syrup (~1:1 sugar to water ratio)
Sometimes I add a dash of orange bitters. Shake vigorously with ice and strain over ice.
I want to make a note, that I actually tried it with this oregon spirit gin last night, and I prefer this particular cocktail with a different gin from holland that is a bit more floral and what I normally use for it:
Sunflower
This one is sweeter, but it's loaded with flavor. It's my significant other's favorite drink.
- 3/4 oz dry gin
- 3/4 oz orange liqueur
- 3/4 oz elderflower liqueuer
- 3/4 oz lemon juice
- absinthe
Rinse your serving glass with absinthe. I personally don't dump out the excess, but if you were a little heavy handed with adding it you may want/need to.
Shake the other ingredients with ice and strain into your rinsed glass. I almost always drink on the rocks, but I don't think it's traditional for a drink like this.
