It’s been a while since I hijacked Crabs’ segment and told you about my very young and fresh vinyl collection. I’ve spent a ton of money on records since I started my collection, so let me tell you about all of my new favorites.
For my birthday this Summer, my friends gifted me the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack, which I’ve been spinning a lot. I’m a sucker for movie soundtracks and this is a damn good one. Speaking of movie soundtracks, I picked up the La La Land soundtrack, as it’s one of my favs (don’t judge me). While I really enjoy it, I ran into some issues that I’ll highlight later. Let’s stick on the positive side for now.
I picked up the SOUR vinyl back in August. I got the Target-exclusive version, with the alternate cover and blue vinyl. If you saw my review of the album back in May, you know that I’m obsessed with Olivia Rodrigo’s debut album. As things stand, it’s still my album of the year.
I made an effort to pick up a lot of my old favorites as well. I purchased Under Pressure, Logic’s debut album. It’s still one of my favorite albums of all-time, and I don’t think there’s a bad track on it. From that same year, I copped J. Cole’s 2014 Forest Hills Drive. It was super nostalgic to jump back into that one, because I hadn’t listened to a lot of those songs since high school.
You already know I had to get another Ariana record. I added Yours Truly to my collection. It was her first album, and another all-time favorite of mine. I’d like to collect the rest of her discography over the next few months.
Unfortunately, a couple of my records have been skipping. Specifically, La La Land and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Coincidentally, I bought both of them at the same time from Barnes & Noble. It’s super frustrating, and has made me not want to listen to them at all. I thought that there might be an issue with my needle or something, but it looks perfectly fine to me. Plus, I don’t have the issue with any of my other records.
That’s my vinyl check-in! Thanks for reading, I’ll be sure to update you in the future on what I pick up next.
