Shrek celebrated its 20th anniversary this week. That of course got me thinking, “man, has it really been two decades?” I remember watching that movie on loop as a kid. You can imagine my devastation when Twitter kindly informed me of some of the other movies turning 20 this year.
Now that it’s 2021 that means anything that came out in 2001 will be 20 years old so here’s a bunch of movies that will be 20 this year pic.twitter.com/kX5dm9R1q6

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Monster’s Inc, Spy Kids, it’s just too much. Even Osmosis Jones, one of the first movies I remember watching, is hitting the big 2-0 this year. Is this how Greg felt when Ghostbusters turned 30?? Father Time is the most cruel of them all. I’ve been thinking of going back and rewatching some of my favorite 2001 movies, potentially reviewing them here on Cortex. Do you have any favorite 2001 flicks that I should check out?
By the way, have you seen the cast that Rian Johnson is stacking up for Knives Out 2?! The first film already had an immaculate cast, and when it was revealed that the sequel would focus on an entirely new group of people + Daniel Craig, I was super interested to see in which direction it would go. Kathryn Hahn, Janelle Monáe, Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, and Leslie Odom Jr.?? I mean COME ON. I’d buy a ticket to watch that cast make sandwiches together, let alone be in a Knives Out movie.
knives out 2 cast is chef kiss

You will probably have to unglue me from the screen when Knives Out 2 releases, tbh. Hopefully I will still have my youth by then, as I feel like I sprouted a few gray hairs when I read that Spy Kids is 20 years old in 2021. Anyway, have a good one folks, I’ll catch you another time.
