Units, the primary currency in No Man’s Sky, will be used quite a bit as you explore the unknown in Hello Games’ expansive sci-fi adventure. If you want to be able to afford to purchase new ships, or even resources and other items, then you’re going to need to know how to make money fast. This guide will teach you all the best ways to farm for Units in No Man’s Sky, so let’s dive right in.
Making money in No Man’s Sky isn’t a terribly difficult feat. However, if you want to make a load of Units quickly, then you’re going to find yourself searching for help. Thankfully, there are a couple of tried and true ways to make money pretty quickly in No Man’s Sky, and while the Beyond update has changed a bit, many of the same methods from the game’s initial release in 2016 are still applicable.
Before we dive into the absolute best ways, let’s talk a bit about the various ways you can cash in on your exploration in No Man’s Sky. First, there are a ton of missions that you can take on at the Nexus and aboard your Freighter. When completed, these missions will reward you with all kinds of items like new ships, Multitools, and even cold, hard Units. Of course, you’ll have to wait for the missions that reward you with money, so just keep an eye out as you explore the world and talk with people.

Another great way to pick up some extra Units in No Man’s Sky is to farm for rare resources. Items like Gold, Emeril, and even the element Herox can net you some nice returns for your effort. Just keep in mind that these resources may also be needed for crafting down the line, and you’ll want to pay attention to the prices in those particular systems to get the absolute best prices.
While these items are technically resources, farming them falls a bit more under the cheesy route than anything, especially if you want to make a lot of cash fast. Whispering Eggs can be found next to abandoned buildings (like the one you found when you learned how to get Antimatter). When attacked, Whispering Eggs will spawn Biological Horrors, which will quickly work to kill you as they defend their nests.
You can, of course, cheese these interactions a little by building up a small four-walled house around one of the nests and then farming it until you’ve collected all the Larval Cores that the Whispering Eggs drop. These cores will net you around 61,750 Units a pop, which makes them a great way to stock up on a ton of money quickly. Just remember to be prepared to fight your way back to your ship if need be, as the Biological Horrors can be quite an enemy to face down, especially alone.
Humming Eggs are another useful item that can be farmed, though they won’t sell for nearly as much as the Larval Cores in Whispering Eggs do. Still, at 27,500 Units, it’s hard to ignore these rare resources. They can usually be found on planets with toxic areas on them, so keep an eye out for these massive eggs which when opened will reward you with Albumen Pearls, which then sell at the trading terminal for almost 30K.
With such an emphasis on upgrading your Multitool, starship, and other technology, it’s no wonder that getting rid of fold tech can be a great way to score some extra Units. Of course, the rarer the tech, the more it will sell for, and items like the Mind Control Device have been seen selling for upwards of 75,000 Units. The downside here, though is that some of this tech can be very difficult to find and you can’t really farm for it. It also all comes down to determining if you’re going to use the tech yourself, something that might be difficult to really gauge in the early hours of the game.
Ultimately, there is no shortage of ways for players to earn money in No Man’s Sky. You can return to our No Man’s Sky guide and walkthrough if you’re looking for more help tackling the latest update and be sure to follow Shacknews on Twitter for even more great content.
