Since No Man's Sky developer Hello Games has no plans (and, likely, zero time) to create an official companion app for their game, due to drop late tonight/early tomorrow, Reddit user aleator83 stepped up. His app, No Man's Sky Ally, is available now on Android and iOS (via Game Rant).

No Man's Sky Ally truly is the NMS player's best friend. You can use it to upload screenshots directly from your PS4, spits out names for planets and creatures that you discover, and has a journal that logs where you discovered certain elements and how much money you stand to earn from hocking them.

While unofficial, No Man's Sky ally sits at 4.5/5 stars on the Google Play store as of this writing, and a 5-star rating on the App Store.
