Nitantic Labs updated Pokemon Go to version 1.1, and with its release, breaking access to all third-party tracking applications. While many users across both iOS and Android devices have been able to update their version of the game, there are some iOS users who are having trouble updating it due to an incorrect redirect.
If you find yourself in this situation, you probably have Pokemon Go version 1.1.0 or earlier. Unfortunately, there’s no way to resolve this from directly within the app, so you’re going to update Pokemon Go from the App Store.
Here’s how you can update Pokemon Go from the App Store instead of within the game itself:
- Exit Pokemon Go (if it’s running) and open the App Store
- Tap on the “Updates” button located at the bottom right portion of the App Store
- Find the Pokemon Go app within your list of applications and tap “Update”
Using this method of updating Pokemon Go will allow you to correctly update your game, instead of being redirected to a beta version of the game, which is what’s happening when you attempt an update from within the app.
