Q3 Aimbot Interview

BarrysWorld guest column has an interview with nopcode, a Q3 aimbot programmer. Unlike the network proxies, this guy modified the actual quake3.exe to show that the 'pure server' security isn't much of a solution. That isn't the real reason behind the creation though, as he would actually rather see people play Quake2 heh.

Yeah, it`s probably my personal warfare against the world :) Everything is becoming commercial... I hate it... Q1 had that underground feeling ... dark maps, NiN soundtrack... And now take a look at Q3... 13 year olds talking about Q3 etc... no, the age is not the problem - the problem is that they could as well be playing UT. They don`t feel for their game. You have to love ID software to understand quake.
<snip>
Btw, I very much dislike ID`s Q3A licence policy these days - I never thought ID would refer to law to protect their "intellectual property"... I always thought they were cool guys... well it`s capitalism everywhere these days I suppose... :/

I would love to see Q3A mainstream die, as I think that they are responsible that Q2 isn`t being played anymore. I do NOT want to destroy mods like Q3F or other "underground" mods because they do not represent the average Q3 player. I`ve been playing alot of Action Quake in Q2 times which makes me feel that way.

update Steve: (yes I'm finally home) Keep in mind this was created for the v117 Quake3, and according to id they have made a number of changes to increase security for the v125 release.
