Intel Chipset Problem, P4 Delayed

5
The problems for Intel continue, this time in the chipset area again. According to The Register, test samples of Intel's new motherboard with 850 chipset, for the Pentium 4, has only recently been delivered to vendors giving them little time to test and tweak the thing. That's not the real big thing as the chipset can also affect graphics performance. Dell says the system crashes under heavy graphics load, which Intel has confirmed. Intel had a crashing problem with their i820 last year which was subsequently recalled (after a few months though). Hopefully this time Intel can get it fixed without continuing to ship it out like they did with the i820 while it was busted.

In related news from CNet comes the story that the Pentium4 has been delayed according to PC makers who were notified by Intel. They are saying Intel will miss its projected October 30 release date by a few weeks.
