More on Q3 1.25

PlanetQuake has a couple of Q&A's with Robert Duffy of id Software, talking some more about the recently released Quake3 1.25 point release. Pappy-R asks about the labeling of 1.25 as beta, new features that might be dropped again, if code will be changed after the next point release once Team Arena is released and bugs that 1.25 introduced.

Pappy-R: When a Beta is put out and new features introduced, how is the decision made on what to keep? Are there certain features that are non-negotiable, and others that can be taken by public opinion?

Robert Duffy: We are not dropping any features at all. Several things were in this version from Team Arena and those will be taken out of Quake 3 Arena but remain in Team Arena where they belong. I stated that we would pay attention to public opinion on the physics code which we will to some degree. We are not breaking the code to make physics behave exactly like they did. We are either going to implement the code to emulate the way they were or tweak acceleration a bit to give that same feel back ( or at least something very similar ). With that said, I would say that public opinion might be changing, we are starting to see a lot of "don't touch the 1.25 physics" now that it has been out a bit.
