EA will make games for the Nintendo NX 'if it makes sense'
Likely translation: Don't expect too many games from the company for the new console.
Electronic Arts and Nintendo have been strange bedfellows. EA has said it has a strong relationship with Nintendo, but it has continually focused on PlayStation and Xbox consoles when developing games. It appears that may not change when Nintendo launches its NX console in March of next year.
In speaking to the BBC, EA's Executive VP Patrick Soderlund said the two companies are still great pals. "I personally and the company are huge fans of Nintendo," he said. "They're the reason why I started making games." But would that translate into making games for the NX? "We're in constant communication with them and when they come to market something - and if it makes sense for us - we'll be there," he said.
It apparently didn't make sense for EA with the Wii U, as lagging sales for the console back in 2013 forced EA to cut back on games in development for the platform. So it understandable that EA may want to take a "wait and see" attitude until the NX shows what is can do sales wise - or Nintendo puts up some money to entice developers to create games for the new platform.
