Popular Science has a brief interview with John Carmack (who apparently created Doom3, the first web-only game.. heh) asking about the future of computer and gaming technology. Thanks VoodooExtreme

Only one-tenth of the display is used by a player at any given time. So why have the computer generate detailed graphics that will go unseen? Retinal tracking, which senses where the eye is focused, could settle this question somewhere down the line. Displaying only what a player can see when he needs to see it frees up the computer to perform even more spectacular effects.
