Win2k / AMD / GeForce Fix

8

AMD has issued their own version of the Win2K / GeForce / Athlon fix. If you're having lockup problems check it out. AMDZone sent in this link a couple of days ago but it kept randomly failing, however it looks like it works now.

Steve Gibson is the cofounder of Shacknews.com. Originally known as sCary's Quakeholio back in 1996, Steve is now President of Gearbox Publishing after selling Shacknews to GameFly in 2009.

The download still doesn't work. Doesn't matter, I got it somewhere else during the week. geforcefaq.com I think.

Blargh. And I just went back to Win 98 this morning. Except on an Athlon 900/GF2/SD-11 mobo, I get 77 fps in Q3 at 512x384, 640x480, 800x600.... looks like something wrong, eh?? Yes of course VSync is off. This is on a completely virgin Win98 system.

(Win2k screams like hell @ 155 fps.... with the board UNDERCLOCKED to 320 MHz memory, default core. at 333 MHz memory (the default), I get *145* fps. Yes, I lose 10 fps by running the board slower. Welcome to my life. Problem is that all 3D apps (D3D or OGL) crash under Win2k after a random number of seconds.)

Anyone have a clue? cos I surely don't.

Try decreasing(or increasing) the voltage in the bios
My system wouldnt stop crashing until I lowered by 0.5
before I lowered powerstrip was reporting that my CPU was running @916-950 mhz. When I lowered that it dropped to 899-902mhz and the random crashing stopped in all apps..

I still do not understand this. Shittay mobos?

also intall the via 4in1 drivers.

I still recommend installing each one one at a time.

        the 4in1 pack sucks
