Chattycast 66: The Retention Contention
The Chattycast talks about how game companies keep players around long-term, with guest co-host Briefcase Man!
The advent of Internet-connected gaming has led to a gold rush of player retention. The longer developers and publishers can keep your interest, the better chance you'll give them money directly through downloadable content, or indirectly keep the community alive to encourage new players to join. This has led to a wealth of retention strategies aimed at keeping you playing longer, all against a backdrop of gamers with voracious appetites consuming and trading in games at a rapid pace.
This week, the Chattycast talks all about player retention. From downloadable content and expansions to regular planned updates to live teams like the one supported by Destiny's recent microtransactions. What player retention strategies work the best? Which ones are most palatable to gamers? What bad retention practices need to be abandoned? Is retention a lost cause in a gamer culture that constantly looks toward the "next big thing"?

This reminds me I need to play more Destiny when I get some time off.
My big question did or will Destiny make Halo 5 meh or more like it really cannot compare to it. In other words has Destiny killed Halo?
I have Halo 5 pre ordered but you got to think with Destiny out and all the DLCs etc what is the point in a way?
For me I am looking forward to Halo 5's SP the most, but at the same time I really should go play Destiny I am torn.
