Chattycast 034: Pre-Baby Edition
On Friday morning, we recorded the Shacknews Chattycast as usual. Moments after it ended, Steve Watts rushed to the hospital to welcome his first child. Meanwhile, Ozzie Mejia glued together this week's show out of nuts, bolts, some paperclips, and a stick of gum. Pardon our lateness!
Pardon our lateness! Moments after this week's Chattycast was recorded, host Steve Watts rushed to the hospital, as his wife had gone into labor. Congratulations, Steve! Meanwhile, that left Ozzie to attempt to mix the podcast out of nuts, bolts, and chewing gum, but what came out was a solid show, where the core four panel discussed more remakes, PAX East, big PC gaming sales, and the best 16-bit games of all time!
Thanks as always to those who provided our topic suggestions this week: Amusatron, Greg (along with fuell), kaddar0, mad-d00d, and Psigun. If you want see your name in lights, keep an eye on Chatty to suggest topics! And, special thanks to Chatty user dael for contributing music to the show, and to Bryan "Doctor Games" Carr for production assistance.
Off-Topic: What three items put in a chalk circle would it take to summon you?
Segment 1: Topic 1: Where do you see HD Remasters in 5 years? Will they still be relevant? Dated? Annoying?
Segment 2: PAX East is coming up, any indie games in the showcase we should be aware of? Any panel speakers?
Segment 3: How much do you look forward for game sales (i.e. Steam sales/Humble Bundles) and how quick are you guys to jump up on those chances?
Segment 4: What is the best console game from each generation? (This week: 16-bit)

Wanna know another funny story, you guys? The sound file that Steve shot over right before he hit the hospital was missing something important...STEVE! His voice didn't make it into the sound file, so I wound up using the backup copy of the recording that I use locally. If the sound channels are all wonky, that would explain that. I'll try and fix up my MP3 Skype Recorder settings to Mono next time.
