Evolve's new ViDoc shows how much it's evolved from its origins
Evolve had some humble beginnings, and the latest ViDoc shows just how much the game has changed through its development process.
2K Games and Turtle Rock Studios have once again pointed the spotlight on themselves to highlight the long development process Evolve had to go through in order to get where it is today. Today, 2K Games has published another episode in its “The Evolution of Evolve” video documentary which focuses on the trial & error process to get the look and feel of Evolve just right.
Adam Sessler once again hosts the latest episode, which highlights just how different Evolve was when it was first conceived. For example, we learn Evolve originally was supposed to have just one hunter within each class type, which now has multiple hunters within a specific class. Turtle Rock Studios’ weapon artist Mike Brainard describes the evolution as giving the player freedom of choice, but not in a way that would overwhelm them.
Monsters have also turned out much differently than originally planned as their form and perspective have changed. For example, the Kraken used to just be able to glide. It could glide really far, but eventually, it would need to find really tall platforms to perch on and jump from.
