Captain Toad isn't the only one tracking treasure on December 5. Nintendo announced today that Toadette is joining as the second playable character, along with story details for the upcoming Wii U game.

While Toad and Toadette are on the search for a Power Star, a greedy bird named Wingo pilfers it along with Toadette herself. Captain Toad has to find Toadette to unlock her as a playable character, so they can get back their Power Star. The announcement also noted that it will introduce power-ups to the puzzles, like the Double Cherry from Super Mario 3D World that creates clones of the player character.
