Xbox One adding Plex and NHL apps this week
Fans of both the NHL and Plex will have a lot to celebrate this week as the Xbox One will carry both apps soon.
Microsoft will be adding Plex and NHL to its stable of dedicated apps on the Xbox One this week.
Plex on Xbox One will allow its users to enjoy their own personal media on their home console, making this the first time its service has become available on any major gaming platform. All you need to do is have Plex installed on a computer, point it to where your local media is located, and the app will do the majority of the heavy lifting to get you up and running.
Plex even includes an “On Deck” feature that allows its users to keep track of shows they’re currently watching, continue where they left off, and suggest additional episodes. The app will become available across all markets except for China and Hong Kong and will also be available on the Xbox 360.
NHL GameCenter LIVE subscribers will be able to watch live, out-of-market regular season games and replays on the new NHL on Xbox One app. Past seasons will be available to view, and fans will have the ability to track their favorite teams through a personalized experience.
Both Plex and NHL on Xbox One will support Kinect voice and gesture controls. No official release date has been set for either app’s release, but Microsoft says it’ll happen “this week.”
