Report: Super Smash Bros. Wii U release date leaked

Nintendo has yet to confirm when Super Smash Bros. Wii U will be releasing, but a US retailer may have just let the cat out of the bag.

October 3, 2014 is quite the important date for Nintendo fans, as it's when Super Smash Bros. 3DS will be released in North America. We're still waiting to hear when Super Smash Bros. Wii U will be announced, but a retailer may have just let the cat out of the bag.

Twitter user BluesDriveBuster got their hands on a pre-order card from retailer Fred Meyer that shows a release date of November 21, 2014. The card posted online looks authentic, but until we hear an official confirmation from Nintendo, we'll have to hold out on calling out sick for the day to spend it paying Super Smash Bros. Wii U.

Smash Bros. on 3DS is definitely coming in just a few weeks, and over the weekend Nintendo released an early demo for select members of Club Nintendo. That demo will roll out wide this week.. We're sure Nintendo will be announcing the Wii U's release date shortly after the 3DS's release.

So for those of you that have the demo on 3DS, how is it playing so far? Is it to floaty like Brawl, or is it faster like Melee?

I would also like to know the answer to this question. I couldn't play Brawl at all because of this.

its somewhere in between. it plays faster than brawl. but its not melee fast. then again we dont have access to the faster characters like sheik or fox in the demo. but the speed feels fine on the characters we've got. one thing that bugs me that was in brawl is that it seems difficult at times to edge guard like I used to in melee. edge guarding in a huge aspect of the game, but it seems like theyve made it easier for the person knocked off to get back.

There is no edge guarding, you replace the person on the edge if they are hanging there first.

edge guarding includes any strategy that tries to prevent your opponent from returning to the platform. its not just about dangling there....

The point of the game is preventing your opponent from returning to the platform. I always considered edge guarding as the specific strategy of grabbing the edge to keep your opponent from doing the same and thusly falling. If you wanna quibble about semantics, we can do that.

No, Im just clarifying what I was trying to say. But yeah, the whole thing where u touch the edge and it knocks the other person off whos currently holding onto it is pretty dumb. I really hope theres an option to turn it off.

It's definitely better than Brawl. It will never be as fast as Melee since there is not as much tech involved (no wavedashing, reduced dash dancing, etc), but faster gameplay will emerge as the meta changes and people get better at this version.

Well I never learned to wavedash anyway, but I could definitely tell Brawl was more sluggish

All I know is I can't wait for the Wii U version. Playing the demo got me pumped for some new Smash, but my hands cramped up playing even on the XL.
