Mortal Kombat X producer discusses environmental attacks
Mortal Kombat X will borrow one quality of its sister series, Injustice, and utilize environmental attacks. Producer Hans Lo discusses with Shacknews how NetherRealm has improved this aspect of the fight.
Mortal Kombat X is actively looking to take the series forward with new characters and new gameplay ideas. MKX made an appearance at last month's Gamescom and Shacknews had the opportunity to stop and talk to one of the game's producers.
NetherRealm's Hans Lo discusses some of MKX's new environments, including the Jungle stage that was home to Kano's debut. He also goes into the feature of using the environment and the stage backgrounds to launch attacks, similar to what was used in Injustice: Gods Among Us. Lo notes that significant improvements have been made in this area.
"One thing also, in the past, that we've gotten a lot of feedback on is when we do these type of projectile environmental uses, people always say, 'Well, I can't block them. It's unbalanced. It's not fair,'" Lo said. "So now we've allowed you the ability to actually block, so that the game keeps moving, keeps the pace going, and tries to keep you in the game as much as possible."
