Obsidian Entertainment working on Pathfinder games for mobile devices
The team behind South Park: The Stick of Truth is hard at work on its next project.
Not wasting any time to celebrate the success of South Park: The Stick of Truth, Obsidian Entertainment has announced the next big project that it's working on: mobile games based on the popular Pathfinder RPG series.
The developer has teamed up with Paizo Inc. to produce the new games, with the first project set to be a mobile/tablet game based on the Pathfinder: Adventure card game. Up to four players will be able to take part, each with their own unique character composed from a deck of cards and a pre-set list of statistics: the fighter, the rogue, the wizard and the cleric. Assigned numbers will also define attributes across the board, from strength to wisdom to charisma, and so on.
"At Obsidian we have a long history of working with the greatest RPG franchises, and we're thrilled to get to play in the Pathfinder universe now," said CEO Feargus Urquhart. "We're huge fans and can't wait to bring what we do in the electronic gaming world to Pathfinder fans everywhere".
"Obsidian is a video game developer at the top of its game", said Paizo CEO Lisa Stevens. "Being able to bring that type of experience and passion to Pathfinder can only mean great things, both for our loyal Pathfinder community and for all fans of great CRPG's."
The game doesn't have a release date yet, but those of you who want to check it out in action can visit Gen Con 2014 this weekend to get a glimpse at Adventure Card Game, either at the Paizo booth (#203) or Obsidian's dedicated booth (#2151).
