World of Tanks dev diary details 2014 plans
World of Tanks developer Wargaming has released the first in a series of developer diaries explaining its ambitious plans to revise various visual and gameplay aspects in 2014.
World of Tanks may be a few years old now, but that doesn't mean developer Wargaming is resting. The studio has outlined a few of its ambitious plans for 2014, including improvements to the visuals and some destructible materials.
The diary details several new improvements, like better-looking tank models and "a so-called volumetric fire" for the tank barrels. Elements of the tanks will be modeled and animated separately with dynamic suspension. Both the tanks themselves and the environments will sustain damage too, from turrets getting blown up to buildings being reduced to bricks and rubble. The gameplay designers are also working on historical battles, and a "Fortified Areas" meta-game.
