Star Wars: The Old Republic has gotten new life since going free-to-play. Another F2P element has become available now, as BioWare has lifted the subscribers-only requirement to access the Galactic Starfighter missions. The expansion lets you personalize your own starfighter and take part in space battles.

To ring in the expanded expansion, BioWare also introduced a Team Deathmatch mode, a Bomber starfighter role with increased armor and the ability to launch mines and drones for defense, and a tactical flashpoint at the Kuat Drive Yards, available for players level 15 and up. Signing up will net you two Pilot Suits for your character as well, to sweeten the pot for new users.

"Space combat is an iconic Star Wars experience that adds another level of excitement and immersion within The Old Republic universe," said BioWare Austin general manager Jeff Hickman, in the announcement. "Galactic Starfighter shows that BioWare is committed to giving fans, new and old, the high quality Free-to-Play Star Wars experience."
