Looks like we're losing one from the 3D consumer graphics race. S3 announced yesterday that they are closing up their consumer graphics card operations and will focus on home oriented digital media (?). The professional style cards such at the FireGL etc will continue but we've probably seen the last of the Savage boards etc.
