Unboxing PlayStation 4: video review of the system and UI

6

This is PlayStation 4. We finally get final retail hardware in our hands and go into detail what's inside the box, and more importantly, how it works. We compare PS4 with other PlayStation consoles to see how they stack in size, just to show off how small Sony's new console is. Then, we show off some of the cool things that DualShock 4 can do. Finally, you'll get a quick peek at the 1.0 version of the PlayStation Dynamic Menu, which highlights how quickly you'll be able to multitask on Sony's next-gen console.

You might want to deinterlace your footage before uploading for much better quality.

I really think this new PS4 UI will be a lot less frustrating than the PS3 is. Hopefully we won't have things like mandatory trophy sync or messages that wont let us access certain parts of the UI while playing a game. Its the future!

Please...never, ever use that background music track again.

Say, can't you download the update early and apply it so you can show us the connected stuff, or is that embargoed until launch?

The background tune was alright. Definitely the kind of stuff brewing in LA right now. One of my favorite things about shacknews is it's SoCal edge that also existed in 1UP and Giant Bomb.

1UP had some really good jams in their videos. I never got around to contacting them for track lists before they went under.

With Giant Bomb I was speaking more to the attitudes of their staff and their style of coverage as being a product of SoCal. 1UP had that and the trippy LA beats.
