So, how much can the iPhone 5S handle? Quite a lot. While every generation of iPhone offers a boost in performance, Infinity Blade 3 creative director Donald Mustard said that the leap made for the 5S is "shocking."

In fact, according to Mustard, the dragon featured in the game's debut trailer is more complex than any character they've created before. "That dragon had four times the polycount of any console character we've ever done in Gears of War or Shadow Complex or anything like that," he said. "It had four times the texture detail, the normal map detail, all on that dragon."

Infinity Blade 2 Reborn

"And that dragon was blowing thousands of particles into the screen, which has this huge fill rate, right? It's very traffic [intensive] for the CPU and GPU. And then we were able to blur those particles. We were able to... balloon those particles, and then add motion blur to them. And then add high-res shadows to the dragon, passing on itself--while doing fullscreen anti-aliasing," Mustard told Polygon, ranting about the capabilities of Apple's upcoming phone. "And then, on top of that, do a fullscreen color adjust and vignette pass, where it kind of adjusts the contrast and the color of the screen, and then also add distortion--the distortion of the flames and stuff."

That kind of performance is staggering, especially when one considers it's a mobile device. However, early benchmarks show that the 5S truly is a significant leap over its predecessor. Even without any optimization for the 5S or support for OpenGL ES 3.0, performance almost doubles what the iPhone 5 could handle. That should be exciting news for mobile gamers eagerly awaiting Apple's next phone.

Trading in my 5 for 5S, I didn't think I would grab the 5S but color me impressed.

All this power on a platform that's a complete pain in the ass to use it on.

That's what makes it a hardcore game.

and four times the headache after realizing that you were dumb enough to lick yourself up in another 2 year contract just to see the aforementioned polygons.

For me, I can care less about the new iPhone 5s/c and Infinity Blade 3. But if they are able to implement same tech in future games which is controlled via controller, then sign me up!

It's all in jest. However, I learned today that I will have my company issued iPhone 4 replaced with a flip phone. The company is cutting costs by collecting company paid smart phones (4 & 5) an replacing them with older but cheaper phones. Otherwise known as no more data plan for joo!

I found IB to be cool at first, and played a lil IB2 when it went on sale. To be honest, it's more like one long winded tech demo than a game with substance.

It's so stuck on rails you could find more entertainment picking your nails. Every sequence is essentially just played out by defeating a monster or series of monsters, then the game has you move through itself by mini cutscenes.

Combat also just feels like a lot of quick time events.

I love my iPhone, but IB is boring.

One of them was free a while back. Tried it, was terrible. I have no idea why Chair has made 3 of these games and only 1 Shadow Complex.

I picked up 1 and 2 when they were free a few months back, I've only played 1 so far but it passed a few hours pleasantly enough.

All that power on a screen so small. :(

I have large hands, but even I don't want a gigantic phone, just 4.7 inches would have been fine.

I wish the IB games were actually fun instead of basically being tech demos.
