ATI Radeon Unveiled

332
The ATI Radeon 3D card is out of the bag this morning. We've got some reviews and benchmarks of the card that you can check out over at AnandTech, FiringSquad, GamersDepot, and GA-Hardware. It looks like the card just comes in a little bit slower than the GeForce2 cards though in most of the Quake3 benchmarks. (on low end and high end CPUs). However it busts some ass in 1280x1024 and 1600x1200 high quality.

ATI has finally put out a high-end card that is able to compete with the likes of NVIDIA and 3dfx. The Radeon features T&L and a good amount of DX8 support, but the card still wasn't able to out-gun the GeForce 2..

I guess this is good, but .. I dunno. If someone was going to get a new card, wouldn't they have already?

Hmm ... I was on an original TNT2 till a month ago, and I thought I was behind the curve.

Unless you buy a new card every generation (6 months), you ARE "behind the curve" as the video card industry would dictate. Of course VERY few people are able to stay "ahead of the curve"... I game regularily with about 10 other guys. All of us are VERY hardcore gamers. One of the guys JUST bought a GeForce DDR. The rest are a mix of TNT2U's and Rage Furys.
