It looks like MMO server-vs-server warfare in Camelot will become a reality after Kickstarter project Camelot Unchained concluded its crowdfunding pitch with more than $2.25 million. The subscription-based game, which plays on the nostalgia of the MMO Dark Age of Camelot, will focus on crafting, realm vs. realm combat and player housing.

While that's a hefty chunk of change, the success of the campaign means that the game will get an influx of an additional $3 million in private funds. Developer City State Entertainment boss Mark Jacobs will toss in $2 million of his own money, while private investors will add another million. The company will continue to accept donations through PayPal as well.

The campaign also hit two stretch goals, allowing archers and three new races (one per realm), as well as a herald and armory for the game. Unfortunately, the game did not hit the goal to allow realm vs. realm dungeons.

"The last 30 days have been an incredible journey," Jacobs said in a press release (via DotMMO). "We believed there’s an audience for a highly focused game like ours, which has now been proven. What we didn't expect was how our community would come together so quickly and avidly. Not only is our average pledge off the chart, our backers have been just as intensely supportive in other ways, from providing immense amounts of helpful feedback to translating information into four languages (German, French, Japanese and Korean), and more. Our entire team is grateful beyond words for the way they have inspired us with their fervent interest and amazing enthusiasm."
