Wii U purchase/data transfer system in the works
At a developer roundtable, Nintendo announced that it is "readying a system" to allow transfers of purchases and save data from the Wii to Wii U.
Though Nintendo hasn't announced solid plans, the company does plan to let you transfer your purchases and save data from the Wii to the Wii U. At a developer roundtable this evening, Nintendo Land producer Katsuya Eguchi said the company is "readying a system" that will allow the transfers.
This fits with Nintendo's steps toward a digital approach, having allowed a similar transfer from the DSi to 3DS. The company didn't announce whether the functionality would be available at launch.

I would hope that they not only maintain the virtual console as is, but that they add GameCube games and continue to flesh out the VC library. Nintendo has been ignoring it lately but to be fair they have a lot on their plate right now.
I also hope we will finally get the games that weren't on VC presumably due to technical reasons, like Yoshi's Island and Donkey Kong 64. The Wii U should be more than capable of emulating the special tech used for those games. -
