The truth is, the reality seldom lives up to the fantasy and the anticipation of an event is generally always more thrilling/fearful/etc than the event itself.
Diablo 3 will be a great game, no doubt, but should it take priority over everything else in your life? I'd say no, it definitely shouldn't.
Oh, unless you're 15 or whatever in which case crack on, sunshine. -

isn't that all mobile gaming? I'd say the minority of games are offline and not "monetized".
nearly everything is online all the time, and a HUGE amounts of games are offering microtransactions, drawing in HUGE audiences that appreciate the options.
if you think it's corporate bullshit, then you have issues with a LOT of the corporations that provide games.-

The Mann Co store is far worse than the D3 auction house. Valve sells you the items directly, and forces you to buy keys for the rarest items. In d3 every item you can buy comes from another player that found it by playing the game.
I'm not going to use the RMAH (so long as gold is a viable currency), but I think it's the best "microtransaction" system I've seen.

Honestly.. I think Diablo III must be one of the biggest game releases I've seen on the Shack. In recent years, with the exception of Duke Nukem Forever (for completely different reason), I haven't seen this many people all talking about the same game in a long, long time. Even more importantly... I haven't seen a game for which so many Shackers are definitely buying and counting the days till release.
