Witch Doctor video unveiled for Diablo 3
The Witch Doctor is unveiled in Blizzard's fourth character class video reveal leading up to the May 15 launch of Diablo 3.
Diablo III's spellcasters had not gotten any video love from Blizzard yet... until today. Enter the Witch Doctor, the next unveil in Blizzard's character class series. If you like throwing spells, then you'll want to take a close look at this installment.
As champions of the Unformed Land, the Witch Doctor class is tasked with keeping the spiritual balance and harmony in Sanctuary.
Known as the Mbwiru Eikura to the tribes of the Teganze, the Unformed Land is believed to be the true and sacred reality, the purest form of existence. To the umbaru, their mortal duration is but a pale shadow of the Unformed Land, a testing ground for those wishing to ascend to the higher plane. And only the witch doctors are able to look upon the Mbwiru Eikura, through mastery of potent herbs, bloody rituals, and an intense focus known as the Ghost Trance. Their combined spiritual and military acumen has earned the witch doctors a place of status and reverence amongst the tribes. Theirs is a calling that requires an incredible degree of courage, self-sacrifice, wisdom, and foresight.
Blizzard has been releasing a trailer a week, leading up to Diablo 3's release on May 15. The Wizard should get a new trailer next week on the Darkness Falls, Champions Rise site.

So far this class and the monk were my favorites. The warrior and mage classes were ok. I haven't tried the Demon Hunter yet (Closed beta). The witch doctor's clunky jar-throwing was mildly irritating for a while in the beginning, however once I got to the jumping spiders it wasn't so bad. I look forward to playing with this class when the game launches.

This is the class I am looking forward to the most, Necromancer attempt here I come. That said the story is something I have to gripe about. Our character that we would be playing is the young Witch Doctor who is just like any other Witch doctor, instead of Benu who was the most in tune with the Mbwibru Eikura? He is suppose to be as powerful as the others who are the best of the best? Or am I looking at this the wrong way?

I thought my DH was fine. I had a low cost on demand snare with no cooldown, and I could kill tougher enemies (including minibosses) in a few seconds by spamming throwing knives. You rely very heavily on the quality of your weapon though. If you don't get a good ranged weapon for a long time, you're boned.

Seemed like the weakest class in the open beta. Granted; I only got to level 8 before defeating Leoric, and with the max beta level being 13 and harder difficulties being locked, we only got a snapshot of the capabilities of each class.
I felt like I couldn't plan out a good mix of direct damage, combat control, and summons. You can do 2 of those things at a time but not all three. But it probably gets better when you unlock the rest of the ability slots.
The other classes all rocked.
