Counter-Strike: GO beta opening more slots

The hardware survey for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is open to all, and will be used to start sending out more beta keys next week.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is giving away more beta keys, and has opened its hardware survey to get a wide pool to choose from. The survey covers your basic hardware specs, then forwards to a few questions regarding your personal preferences.

The survey is delivered through Steam. The developer blog suggests that they'll be looking for particular groups to come in during the waves, which is the purpose of the survey. "Sometimes we might add experienced players, other times new players," the blog states. "Sometimes 1.6 players, sometimes CSS players, sometimes people who have played neither."

The selections from this round of surveys will start next week, so don't wait too long to chip in your two cents. Playing the beta will also grant you gift keys to give to friends, so you can always hang that over your buddies' heads.

No timetable has been set for the full release of the game. Last year, Valve's Chet Faliszek said the beta will end "when it's ready."

I think they are trying to combine the cs 1.6 and CS:S scene. There will a normal pub mode as well as a 5 on 5 competitive mod. I think there is stat tracking and matchup's based on your skill level as well.

The thing I like about the current beta is that it is limited to 5v5. It takes most of the randomness and spaminess out of the game since there aren't 20+ players on the board.

the problem is the FPS shooter regime has evolved so much with BF3, Call of Duty Franchise with new innovative features that CS is going to be left behind in the dust. Don't get me wrong, while 1.6 & CS were both fun to play they have made FPS gaming what it is today, the problem is no one wants to take a step back. I can't go back to CS or Quake 1, 2, or even 3 because a lot of the new things I have come accustom to isn't there (Kill Streak Rewards, Killcams, etc). Just my two cents.

CS is a completely different beast from any of those games. Like night and day really. I think plenty of people want to take a step back. Though I think killcams would certainly do the game a lot of good from a player education perspective.

I find modern shooters to be a glorious spamfest of random deaths with little to no real teamplay. I severely miss maps divided in half by spawn points. I don't think I would ever use the word Evolved to describe modern shooters, with the exception of techology.

I'm really excited to go back to CS. My roommates and I play a lot of MW3 on 360 and yeah, it's fun, but the pace of CS games is so totally different and the map significantly better and no airstrikes or vehicles or shit. I'm excited for it.

Thank god because I can't stand the movement of games like BF. It takes a while to be okay with it and even then it never ever feels as responsive as something like CS or TF2.

No man there's a whole group of people who revile killstreaks, unlocks, rewards, ranks and all that other shit, they crave purely skill based shooters.

Funny this is why I want CS:Go so badly.

All the new things that are so prevalent in new shooters just makes them far less fun or rewarding.
