EA Sports announced today that Grand Slam Tennis will receive a sequel, appropriately titled Grand Slam Tennis 2, next year. The game is due for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and the PS3 version will support the PlayStation Move -- but no mention of Kinect support. EA is boasts in particular that the game will feature all four Grand Slam championships, including an apparent exclusive arrangement to showcase Wimbledon.

On top of the exclusive court, EA promises more finely-tuned racquet control with the right stick (with classic button controls if that's your preference), and AI is getting an overhaul to showcase signature swings and reactions from players. The game is also banking on the history of the game, bringing in players like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Bjorn Borg, Maria Sharapova, Serena and Venus Williams, and John McEnroe. This also paves the way to unlock memorable match-ups against famous faces.

"We are very excited to bring the EA SPORTS Grand Slam Tennis franchise to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms and leverage the graphical power of these high definition consoles," said producer Thomas Singleton in the announcement. "Players will now get to experience the excitement and drama of serving it up on prestigious tennis venues such as Wimbledon's famed Centre Court."
