The Annihilation downloadable content for Call of Duty: Black Ops is migrating to the PC and PlayStation 3 at the end of this month, Activision has announced today. The DLC is set to hit both platforms on July 28. No price was mentioned in the announcement, but by now we should all know the drill: $14.99.

This third pack may be the last piece of DLC for Black Ops, as Activision might not want to distract from Call of Duty Elite and the impending launch of Modern Warfare 3 in the fall. Annihilation adds five maps, one of which is a new zombie map.

"With Annihilation, the team at Treyarch and Activision has shown its continued commitment to bringing new and unique content to our fans," said studio head Mark Lamia in the announcement. "Players are getting four of the best multiplayer maps to date with Hanger 18, Drive-In, Silo, and Hazard. They also get a brand new dose of thrills in Shangri-La, our latest Zombies offering, packed with deadly traps and dark secrets buried within the shifting walls of an ancient and mysterious temple."

Ah, Call of Duty: Black Ops 'Fragmentation'.
While I enjoyed the Modern Warfare titles I won't be giving any more money to this franchise. The fragmentation of the community into DLC 'haves' and 'have-nots' is extremely unappealing and ruined the online experience for me. I'd rather play older games that have cohesive communities and the ability to create dedicated servers.

I really enjoy the game, but it's hard to ignore the giant FUCK YOU they're taken to laying down on the PC users for no apparent reason other than FUCK YOU

Yeah, this is the major issue for me. I don't have a problem with map packs in general, but if I'm playing with friends I never really play them because no one else has them. So I'm just stuck playing with the original maps. I really wish that they would make the previous pack free when a new one comes out, but I'm guessing they still make assloads of money on previous packs so they don't do it.

i would buy a fourth map pack, just for the zombies mode. But much better would be a full Zombies title instead of paying it bit by bit. Not interested in Modern Warfare 3: Black Ops campaign mode was bad enough, and the multiplayer experience is pretty much the same as MW2 (which, by the way, had special operations mode which was very funny to play in co-op). Battlefield 3, on the other hand, looks awesome! I will probably put my hands into it...
