Payday: The Heist coming to PC, PS3
Sony Online Entertainment and Overkill Software announced Payday: The Heist today, due for PC and PS3 later this year. It's a class-based, cooperative FPS in which you pull off (obviously enough) heists.
Sony Online Entertainment announced Payday: The Heist today, a squad-based first-person downloadable shooter coming to PC and PlayStation 3 this year. You'll have six heists to pull off, with genre mainstays like blasting a vault, managing hostages, taking an armored car, and infiltrating a high-security facility.
The announcement promises dynamic environments and adaptive tactics to keep the game fresh as you pull off your various heists. It isn't rated yet, but developer Overkill Software is expecting an M for Mature.
You'll form up in crews of four bots or real-life partners, share your resources, help wounded partners, and divide the responsibility of a heist. You can specialize in assault, sharpshooter, or support, to use the appropriate equipment. Like most multiplayer games, it comes with a class progression tree, so you can gain better weapons and equipment like silenced pistols and trip mines. You can even trade hostages to buy yourself some time.
If you get bored with the six missions, SOE and Overkill promise that DLC will be coming to add new heists. So far all we know is gleaned from an announcement and some screenshots, but the game will be playable at E3 next week, so we should be able to get some hands-on time with it.
