another patch was done today...i think.
* arrows work - ive been killing mobs a lot
* damage works for mobs and players against players
* the invisible thing seems to happen only until your first death - havent noticed it an issue
* i fucking hate creepers
* dieing and dropping all your stuff now gives you a huge incentive to hide and run from mobs

The biggest problem (that I've seen) is that there's often way too many mobs, such that fighting them isn't even an option, and they take way too many hits to kill.

Shadowdane's Server -- Alright we are running PVE, Mobs are On.
If you run into the bug where you can't pickup anything, let me know I'll have to delete your player.dat file. This will wipe out your inventory. So before you tell me... put anything you want to save in a chest somewhere so you can get it again when you login.
Notch needs to fucking fix this bug soon!!-

I fell off a cliff yesterday, and lost all my diamond tools and iron ore and stuff. Couldn't see the items (but I could pick 'em back up) after I respawned.
*Then* (same day) I got taken out by those friggin' silent creepers--twice. I respawned as usual, but now the mobs can't touch me, other players can't see me, and I can't gather anything I dig up or drop.
*tl;dr: Yeah, you'll need to delete my player.dat file.

Clarification here. Is pvp and stealing not allowed? I mean, shouldn't you be hiding your stuff and not leaving it around in chests?

That's that the towny plugin is for though..you're supposed to form a town and build a house with doors. Random people can't open your door and walk into your house and take stuff, otherwise they can. Personally, this being survival and there being towns/nations that fight, this makes sense to me..

Well, credit where credit is due, Notch fixing those 2 major bugs has made SMP with mobs playable. Suboptimal (which is to be expected), but playable. And oh, look, it's 2am.

i think we should turn off regenerating health even for the peaceful builder server. if you're going to have damage at all, it shouldn't regenerate since that breaks it. either no damage whatsoever (so we can freely jump off of the sky canal), or no regenerating health so we have to make wheat farms or kill pigs etc., while still not having to worry about aggressive mobs since it's the peaceful server. imo.

Having damage on at all in the peaceful server is just stupid. It's just one more constraint on building cool shit.

There's no server variable for fall damage = off yet, but I know that Notch is going to add one at some point.

foo, can you delete my player.dat on shackeast.sytes.net?
I can't pick up any blocks, and using a minecart now causes me to disconnect. Someone said that someone else (vividvoid?) had this issue and that resetting the player.dat file fixed it.
I've put nearly everything that I was holding into a chest.
