Kinect Photo Interface Proof-of-concept Created by Hacker

6
So it begins! Now that rudimentary drivers are available for Microsoft's Kinect sensor, programmers are able to begin using the camera for some unauthorized application action on computers.

One such coder, floemuc, has created a photo viewing application that allows interaction with some images, using various gestures to scale and rotate the pictures with "multitouch-like interaction" (via Eurogamer).

He has not released the application at this time, but the video clearly shows off how it functions in its current state. It will be interesting watching what he and others do with the Kinect sensor.

WOW! I've always wanted to put all my photos is a big messy pile and awkwardly navigate though them.

That's Kinect in a nutshell: a solution to a problem no one had. These devices are clumsy and stupid. They're basically charging for R&D experiments.

LOL... How long has the Kinect been out?

How long have the (still work in progress) drivers been available?

This is merely a demonstration of some of the possibilities and is just a fun use of the drivers. Two weeks ago, I would have never expected to see anything like this using the Kinect on the PC so quickly! Obviously that application doesn't offer much in it's current state, but god damn... how narrow minded can you be.

I don't know how you don't have flashes of Minority Report, etc. You can also see the parallel in the R&D for Kinect and the R&D for microsoft surface.

And the device is neither clumsy, nor stupid. It's not perfect... it won't replace the standard controller... it won't replace the keyboard and mouse... but the tech is pretty impressive and has its benefits. I would have to guess that you have not used it.

You obviously don't seem to get the "larger picture" McFly

People are so disappointing.. At one time hacking around like this was considered cool. It still is to many of us, but it's sad to see the internet now being dominated by the ones who just want their newest console game, and could care less about actually creating things, or being curious about how things work...

Wow you can't even see farther than a nose's length. I pity you.
