The ECA has announced plans for a free speech rally at the US Supreme Court in Washington D.C. as part of its continuing campaign to raise awareness of the threat posed to First Amendment protection for video games by the potential outcome in Schwarzenegger v. EMA. The rally is scheduled to take place Tuesday, November 2 prior to the 9am EST opening of the hearing in which oral arguments will be heard in the case.
Jennifer Mercurio, Vice President and General Counsel for the ECA, encouraged gamers to attend saying:
"This will be a historic day for gamers and the video game industry as a whole, and we greatly appreciate everyone who has taken action on this pivotal issue. Video games, like any other form of entertainment, should be protected under our First Amendment and now is the time to stand up and let our collective voices be heard."
Those planning to attend can RSVP here. More information is available on the ECA site.
