The dastardly dragon Deathwing rises in the intro cinematic for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, released this past weekend, enjoying a whistlestop tour of Azeroth to spread death and destruction. As all Blizzard cinematics are, it's exceedingly pretty.

Cataclysm is due to be released on December 7 for $40, the third expansion pack for Blizzard's fantasy MMORPG which now boasts over 12 million "subscribers."

Just saw the "worgen" char on the front page, can't believe WoW is going to be filled with freaking furries. Droves of "Twilight"-themed guilds and teams will be procreating like bunnies.

Right, because werewolves were invented by "furries" and we didn't already have Tauren and Draenei.

      What?

Go watch some real werewolf movies, like the original "The Wolf Man" from 1941, or Neil Marshall's "Dog Soldiers".

I don't think he's arguing that they invented werewolves, but his point that the Worgen match up pretty nicely with the werewolves from the emo-vamp series is apt. I am sure there will be tons of people that are drawn to the werewolves by Twilight.

But to your point, no, these are certainly not the first "furry approved" beings in WoW.

Frankly, I don't mind if people are drawn for the first time to WoW by the opportunity to role play some movie romance. Whatever gets them through the door...
