Fable 3 'Kingmaker' App Lands in Europe on Oct. 4; N.A. Residents Can 'Topple' Tyranny on Xbox.com

The Fable 3 companion game "Kingmaker" uncovered earlier this week will launch in Europe only on October 4, Microsoft revealed today.

The smartphone-only title will allow players located in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Netherlands and Sweden to collect gold for their upcoming Fable 3 characters by visiting real-world locations and "planting flags," similar to the "checking in" structure of Foursquare.

The free application will be available on Android and Nokia Symbian devices on October 4, Apple iPhone on October 6, and alongside the launch of the Windows Phone 7. A trailer of Kingmaker in action can be found after the break.

Although North American residents won't be able to play with the mobile application, Microsoft told Shacknews that an integrated Facebook title is currently available for users in the region. In the "Tyrant Toppler experience," players join a revolution by "Liking" Fable 3 on Facebook and sharing a link to friends across their favorite social networks, including Twitter.

Microsoft confirmed to Shacknews that the Tyrant Toppler experience will not provide any rewards to Fable 3 characters. Like Fable 2's Pub Games, the Europe-only "Kingmaker" app gives players a chance to collect gold for the upcoming Fable release. For a more direct connection to Fable 3, you can still participate in creating your own villager, provided you've pre-ordered the game.

When asked if a tie-in title with in-game content benefits was coming to North American users, a Microsoft representative told Shacknews the company hasn't announced "anything else at this point."

Xav de Matos was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.
