The patch that was to enable multiplayer along with other gameplay fixes for Stardock's Elemental: War of Magic has been delayed until next week. It had been scheduled to release today, but wasn't ready.
In a post titled, "Making use of a lesson learned," no doubt referring to the game's shaky launch, Stardock CEO Brad Wardell explains the slight delay:
The bad news is that we're going to have to delay v1.08 for a few days. The internal QA deadline for the test build was this morning and unfortunately it needed a few more hours before being submitted. Rather than even remotely risk something that is going to cause pain (for our players and us) I'm just pushing it until the next QA slot which is next Tuesday.
The good news is that there will be "substantially more game play improvements in v1.08 than originally intended" as the extra time will give the team time to incorporate "spell changes, tactical battle tweaks and such."
It's good to hear that Brad and Stardock are opting to take a bit more time with a release than previous patches to make sure that the QA process happens in full.

It seems this realization comes a little late, considering the statements on the forum at launch along the lines of "No this game is done, if you don't like it don't buy it".
Is there somebody who had absolutely no problem with the game and is totally happy with his purchase?-

The shipping state of Elemental was apparently awful, but everyone knows that, and the CEO has acknowledged that and apologized for it repeatedly, as well as apologizing for his rantings.
That's specifically what he's referring to by saying that they're going to make extra-sure that the patch is baked. (Hence the "lesson learned" title.)
I'm not sure if you weren't aware of that, or if you are just mad enough about the launch issues to keep bringing them up... either way, carry on.-

The only context was that the guy who wrote saying Elemental was like a beta was the guy who did the board art for Solium Infernum (Ben Sones) and apparently was somewhat of a forum friend of Brad Wardell. So your own friend is telling you that your game is so unfinished that it's like a beta, and you tell him if you don't like it, don't buy it...kind of makes you look even more like a dick.

While I woundn't say it was ready for primetime at launch, there's a great game in there. Keep in mind that the game ran fine for me at launch (no crashes). And if I would trust anybody to be there for the long haul, it would be Stardock, so I'm really not worried about that.
So, if you were to ask if I would be totally happy with the game in it's state at launch, I would say no, but if you were to ask if I was totally happy with the purchase, having faith in Stardock's commitment, I would say yes. -
I'm fine with the game. Ive been buying their games for the longest and I know I'll get a bang up game when the dust settles. Besides I CANNOT allow conglomerates to swallow up whats left of the independents out there. I love my hobby to much for that.
Let me put it another way, when Steam works was in its inception I supported them even when everyone thought it was insane, and trust me that was the case. Now folks cant live without Steam Works.
I in the other hand support Impulse, because I believe in competition. I also buy over 100 games a year, so I put my money where my mouth is. When and IF Impulse gets to big I'll support their competitors.
Stardock is fantastic at what they do and for as long as I can support them I will. Galactic Civilizations 1 and 2 where awesome games so was Sins of a Solar Empire. So I have confidence in what they can do with Elemental.
